Latham Thomas is beautiful and a humble spirit which is the founder of “Mama Glow”. Mrs. Thomas graduated from Columbus University and Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is a birth coach, that specializes maternity lifestyle, wellness, and yoga for women. Mama Glow takes the women on a holistic lifestyle journey to celebrate their beautiful pregnancy and motherhood. As women, our bodies change within the nine months of this beautiful journey, some of us get happy, others go through a depression that is what we call the attack of the hormones. Pregnancy brings all types of myths, and rules that will sometimes drive women crazy, scared to eat this, can not use this type of products. Oh my! We just don’t worry about our beautiful baby that is growing inside of us. We have to think about everything that we do in our everyday daily life. Basic pregnancy rules do not smoke or drink, get your rest, take your vitamins, stay active, and put together a plan. How many of these rules did we truly follow? If I could speak for myself, I am guilty and innocent. Unfortunately, I didn’t stay active or make birth plans. Mama Glow is so important to all of the women that are on this beautiful journey it will teach you and give you the insight to take this road in the most positive direction . I was honored to sit down with this beautiful women and trust me I learned a lot being in her presence. She empowered me to take a chance and how to truly take time out for me and not feel guilty . Get ready grab a seat and take the journey with Mrs. Thomas and I she is going to give you the insight in detox, self- love, motherhood, and just being a successful woman.

Question 1: What advise would you give to the women of the world that want to start cleaning eating?

Answer: First, steps are hydration, and the key is water which, is good for our nails and skin. Secondly, eat more green, meaning eating more salads. We seem to over cook our greens so cooking our greens more lightly by cut up the kale, and collard greens really fine, and saute and cooking your greens fast in some olive oil and garlic. I am also a big fan of green juice, it cleanse the blood , and build the blood back up. Minimize your dairy it might be hard for some people, look at the white food in your life like white sugar, white flour and starch. Take healthy snacks with you on the go, I also have snacks with me I call it, “The Pantry on the Go.”

Question 2: What is the difference between Mediation and Yoga?

Answer: Yoga and Mediation goes hand in hand I call them siblings . Mediation is a mindful practice that slow down the brain waves so you can be in a state of well- being, and when you practice this consistently it helps reduce the stress and tension in your body. Yoga is physical movement that also can be helpful to ease the mind, some people might want yoga first and then mediation or vice versa. They are both important tools to have in our spiritual tool kit (red suitcase).

Question 3: Best way to be calm or release stress in your pregnancy or life?

Answer: Do warm bath and what I call, “Glow Time”, taking time for yourself. Getting your nails done and get your feet rubbed, get a facial, and a massage. And do the things that allow you to put time and energy into yourself and also mothering yourself.

Question 4: How we do handle emotional stress within pregnancy or in life?

Answer: The work we need to do emotionally we really do not think about it a lot of times, but it’s important time to indulge in self-care and speaking positive into our life and loving yourself. The self-esteem all depend on who you are as a person, everything shift in our life and especially when you are pregnant. It’s a matter of time for you to figure out the right support system and make sure you have the right type of people around you. And they make you feel good about yourself and I call them “The Sister Circle” or “Girlfriend.” and They make you feel that you are going to be okay. Do things that make you feel sexy I did dance class, I will tell women to take a pole dance class that make you feel real sensual and into your body. Because our body change its does not mean we are not beautiful, but it means that we are more beautiful.

Question 5: How do you handle the balancing act in your life?

Answer: I do not believe in the balance, I would say it’s the juggling act . I am consistent juggling everything and trying to figure out how to do it all. I know we need to put our attention where it needs to be. When something need my attention, I will focus on that and then it shifts. It’s a range of things you need to always have multiple balls in the air and feel comfortable with that and know that its a part of life if you do not have that then your life becomes boring.

Question 6: Do you feel woman compromise in the business world when it comes to our success?

Answer: I think that we tolerate certain things that do not feel good to us and that may under mind our values. We are afraid of acceptance or we may be losing something. We need to be mindful that the reason that we have the energy is to take us through and we need to keep that energy and allow it take us through. Having a support or mentors in the workplace that understand your job and what your goals are so you can make it through and advocate you.

Question 7: As, successful as you are do you struggle with weakness?

Answer: Yes I think I struggle all the time. Every day that I wake up they is always a challenge and its does not matter, because once your dream comes to life you still need to maintain it. Everyday is always a journey and I am working hard to maintain it and I will never get to a point that I will say that I am done. You just strive for bigger dreams, they are times that I think that I am more sensitive and I do not believe in myself. Then I have to talk with people who remind and say “girl you are doing a good job”, and you need people in your corner to let you know that you are bringing value to the world. Every day I had to get up and speak positive word into my self.

Question 8: Who are your mentors?

Answer: I have a few different mentors,. I have them in many different area. When I say mentor I just do not mean a person to look up to, I mean the qualities in that person to look up to. I do not believe in idolizing people, I do believe people have aspects that we can strive towards and you can say I want to be more like this in my life. I would say they are multiple people that gave me something for my soul. I would not say one but there is a lot and my mother is definitely one of them. I think there is a lot of positive women in my life and I am grateful that I can learn from them.

Answer: I do not believe in regrets ,if you do something a lesson comes from that and I do not regret anything.

Question 11: As a mother to a black young man how do I explain to him what is going on now in the black community?

Answers: I am careful about what I share with him about what is going on in the world. At his age it’s also not good for him to know everything especially the negative things. I do not want him walking the world in fear, but I want him to be confident in who he is. We talk about the tragic in the world and find out how he is feeling. It’s always good to know what is happening with your children.

Answer: People have to understand what they want to accomplish in the world and what they are call to do. And you understand that you can now apply it to your life and work towards your goal, because you now have a passion. It all comes down to what you wake up and want to do and you are doing that special thing when you suppose to be doing other things. When you find your self completely loss and enjoy that thing that you love. We should be doing the things that brings us joy and that would make us better mothers, and better people in the world. I encourage people to figure out what that looks and feel like.

Question 14: What about mommy time?

Answer: You can not feel guilty, because that time you take for yourself that makes you feel better and recharge your battery and if you do not take time for yourself your kids will not learn the boundaries they need to see that you can take time for yourself.
