Traveling Red Suitcase got a chance to be in the building at, " Eye Glam" live make up class, which was all about eyes. Not, only that but we also landed an interview with this beautiful, and phenomenal woman and who is make up artist to many women, Ms.Dee.
Ms. Dee executed her Eye Glam make up class astoundingly. She drew the audience in they where so eager to learn. There wasn’t any room for a monotonous moment. The passion that she brought forth for her artistry in her class even inspired me as a make up artist to keep striving. The defined brows that she did on her stunning model Ms.Adoch, where breathtaking. The natural eye look was beautiful and when she flipped it and brushed on the evening eye she blow the women’s breathe away. Then, because she does have a sense of humor she tested the women to see if they where paying attention 100% and made two groups of eight and tested each group on their skills, it was hilarious. South Florida, and all the surrounding areas if you don’t know about this diva and founder of Nosworthy Creations then you are sleeping on her, I need yawl to wake up and follow this jewel and book your appointments with her, RIGHT NOW!
YAWL WOKE NOW, GOOD, GOOD MORNING, NOON, EVENING WHICH ONE!! PLEASE ENJOY THE INTERVIEW BELOW WITH MS.DEE!!
In the words of Ms. Dee:
How did you get started with your make up career?
“ I actually started when I entered, Miss Jamaica pageant when I was 18 years old, and I also did my own make up for the pageant because I couldn’t afford to have my own artist. That night I won Miss Jamaica Florida, and I was getting a lot of compliments on my make up. I decided that night that I wanted to take my make up to another level. After, I finished high school I started working for Clinique and from there I build my confidence working with different kind of skin tones, complexions, acne-prone skin, rosacea, oily, and discolorations.”
Did you attend any make up school?
“ I have always been a self-taught make up artist. I have never actually took a formal course in make up artistry.”
Where do you get your inspiration?
“ I get my inspiration from what I see on TV, outside, plants, different things and art. Also, graffiti, patterns, and structures I build off from there. I like to do make up beyond everyday smokey eye, and natural looks. I like to try different textures, stones, and fabrics to create some of my looks.”
What sets you apart from the rest of the artist in Miami and throughout the world?
“ I started from nowhere practicing and seeing different things. I noticed that some make up artist here do the same type of looks. I try to make everybody unique to how there face is. If someone has a certain look to their face I make them beautiful with what they have and not try to make them look structured and not a robotic assemble line.”
What percentage of your artistry consists of research?
“ I would say about 50%, is from what I experience from life and traveling, what I see, different angels i.e. photographers, models, designers, and I like to team up with people that are creative they make your thoughts come to life. The other 50% is from my mind, thoughts, and visions. Some people may think its crazy and some make think is dope you have to be a VISIONARY, you can make a look from dirt, grass. I like to push myself pass my limits.”
What is your signature look?
“ My signature look for everyday would be eyebrow definition. I feel that no woman should leave the house without having a nice brow and clean polished skin. A lot of people love how I make my eyes pop, and different kind of lip tones I use. My favorite lip brand is called, “Coloured Rain” and the color is called, “Rain Fever” everytime I wear that color everybody are like where you get that color. LOL, I think I need to have my own brand just for that color.”
What are some summer and spring trends you’re noticing?
“ Spring is one of my favorite times of year because you get to work with bold bright beautiful colors. Purples, pinks, and oranges. In spring you can push yourself and have fun. Instead of doing the traditional black liner you can use a pink liner or blue. My favorite line is Anastasia Beverly and they have bold liners you can wear.”
Girl, what is your definition of FLEEK and your make up is giving me LIFE?
“ When they talk about fleek, fleeken, or fleekers I think it means you are on point, you are the point sharpness of what they call make up artistry. You are such flawless with no errors, you such seamless. Life they always say Dee, you giving me life. Life means they are pumping oxygen into your lungs, they making you breath and live right now. Whatever you are doing you are a inspiration to them to keep on going. When some tell me you giving me life I say, thank yoouuuu, thank youuuuuu, I am just a little angel here on earth.”
Some words of encouragement from Ms. Dee has we sign off, “ Never give up make up artistry is not easy some people are just naturally given that talent to do make up and some people it takes a little more practice. Never give up you know your face more than any other make up artist so guess what, YOU PERFECT YOUR FACE TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY, AND GUESS WHAT YOUR CONFIDENCE WILL OUT SHINE ANY MAKEUP ARTIST, ANY MAKE UP COMPANY. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND KNOW YOUR BEAUTIFUL YOU DON’T NEED NO MAKE UP TO MAKE YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL YOU WEAR THE MAKE UP DON’T LET THE MAKE UP WEAR YOU!
